When author David Shannon was five years old, he wrote a story about a little boy who broke all his mother's rules, leading to her often saying "No, David." In 1997, Shannon came across his childhood book in his mother's closet, and re-wrote it using a childlike handwriting and including drawings of his mishaps.
No David! by David Shannon is a hilarious picture book that promotes behaviour, forgiveness, responsibility and self-management.
The author’s semi-autobiographical story of a little boy who breaks the rules, flooding the bath, jumping on the bed, and breaking a vase. His mum repeats the phrase “No!” throughout the book, until David apologises and he gets his mothers forgiveness.
